Home Ventilator Program
This program, part of the Close Observation Unit, is designed specifically to teach caregivers how to care for their loved ones once they are at home and on mechanical ventilation. This four- to six-week, aggressively structured education and training program has been designed to explore the successful opportunity for the patient to be discharged home with the primary caregiver, while continuing to require mechanical ventilation.
Through the interdisciplinary team approach, in addition to focusing on respiratory care and medical needs, we equally address patients' abilities to maximize participation in activities of daily living, physical mobility, nutritional and spiritual needs, and leisure/community participation.
