Our Philosophy

The purpose of the CSC Child Care Center program is to offer high quality care and experiences to the children of CSC employees and community members.

Our goal is to nurture, guide and encourage children so that each child can develop towards his or her potential. In addition, much consideration is given to the different cultures and rates of development of each child so that a well balanced program of developmentally appropriate experiences and activities can be offered to promote their intellectual, emotional, social and physical growth.

We believe that parents are their child's first teachers, and it is the goal of our staff to partner with parents to maintain open, daily communication so that they may effectively work together in meeting the needs of the child, family and organization.

Goals
  • To offer a variety of experiences which encourage play.
  • To provide a supportive, caring and relaxed atmosphere where positive self-concept and independence is enhanced.
  • To provide hands on exploration, which enhances all areas of development.
  • To foster in the child a sense of respect for others with appropriate guidance through problem solving skills and respect for materials and equipment.
  • To develop in the child an active curiosity about the world in which he/she lives.
  • To enhance the self-esteem of each child in the program by celebrating differences in ways that value and respect diversity.
  • To expand the child's experiences by providing field trips within the hospital and special visitors at the center.
  • To be aware of each child's general condition for the day, including mood, health, appetite, etc.
  • To be supportive of parents by encouraging on-going involvement and open, honest communication.
  • To assess each child's individual development based on an appropriate evaluation tool.
