Planned Giving
Wills and Bequests
The simplest way of making a planned gift to Foundation of Special Care from your estate is through a bequest in your will or trust. You can donate a percentage of your assets, which can include stocks, bonds, real estate, vehicles, art, jewelry, or other personal property, or, you can designate a specific dollar amount. While you do not receive an immediate income tax deduction, your estate receives an unlimited estate tax charitable deduction for your bequest. By specifically naming Foundation of Special Care in your will, you can support the future of the Hospital and its affiliates. If your will has already been drafted, it is possible to amend it or to add a codicil to remember Foundation of Special Care without having to redraft your will in its entirety. As with any gift, estate gifts can be unrestricted or designated to a specific program or area of concentration of the Hospital.
If you choose to include an unrestricted bequest to the Foundation in your will, the following wording is suggested:
"I give to Foundation of Special Care, Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, in New Britain, Connecticut, ( insert here a percentage of the estate or an amount in dollars), for its general uses and purposes."
